Since returning to RAW, Keith Lee has lost two of the three matches he's competed in. The first came at the hands of WWE Champion Bobby Lashley, while it was then NXT Champion Karrion Kross who scored a win over his old foe. Now, we haven't seen Lee since he managed to earn a victory back against Kross and that was way back on the August 2 edition of RAW.
Recently, Lee has been working dark matches on RAW and SmackDown, leaving fans to wonder why he's being sidelined like this after such a lengthy absence from WWE.
Well, according to PWInsider, these dark matches - designed to be short squash matches for Lee - are being done as a way of redefining his place in the company as they look to figure out what works best for him moving forward. Recent opponents include Austin Theory, Chico Adams, Niles Plonk, and Casey BlackRose, all of whom are obviously up-and-coming NXT stars.
Lee was absent from WWE due to heart issues caused by COVID-19, and it's shocking that Vince McMahon and company still haven't figured out how best to use him. In NXT, he was a hit with fans, and upon his main roster debut, they were anxious to see him square off with Brock Lesnar.
Now, he's slipped down the card to the point where he's being squashed by Lashley in minutes.
