If NXT Goes Head To Head With AEW On Wednesday Nights, Main Roster Talent May Be Used On The Show

It sounds like NXT is getting WWE-ised as a new report reveals that the company is planning to counter programme All Elite Wrestling's Wednesday night show with main roster talent on the developmental brand.

We recently heard that WWE is considering airing NXT on Fox Sports 1 this Fall in a bid to hurt All Elite Wrestling's planned debut on TNT. While AEW hasn't revealed which night of the show their weekly series will air on, Wednesday Night Dynamite has been trademarked and it seems WWE is willing to damage the number of WWE Network subscribers if it hurts AEW.

However, this news is bound to upset fans of the developmental brand. According to Dave Meltzer, Vince McMahon would not be happy if NXT is beaten by AEW and will do whatever it takes to stop that from happening.

"As far as competition goes...absolutely the plan is to use main roster guys," he explains. "If this show goes to head with AEW is to use main roster guys on the NXT show to help boost the ratings." In other words, NXT could be about to become WWE-lite and it will be very interesting seeing what Triple H makes of that.

However, if underutilised main roster talent is given the chance to shine in NXT, that won't actually be a bad thing. We'll see.
