Is Braun Strowman Being Kept As "Backup" For The WRESTLEMANIA Universal Championship Match?
Braun Strowman was originally rumored to be the next #1 contender for The Miz's Intercontinental Championship, but the events of last night's Raw appear to have send the Monster Among Men in another direction.
Last night on Raw, Seth Rollins and Finn Balor were all-but confirmed as The Miz's WrestleMania opponents, which leaves Braun Strowman without a title opportunuty on the grandest stage of them all.
There's still time for him to be added to one of the matches, of course, but we're hearing that there's a very specific reason why he doesn't seem to be involved in any kind of solid angle or feud at the moment.
According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, WWE wants to keep Strowman available for the Universal Title match in case "something" happens with Brock Lesnar or Roman Reigns.
"I don’t know if they are going to go with Strowman and Reigns with Brock Lesnar but if something happens with Lesnar, obviously Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman is the only match that you could put in that spot. If something happens with Roman Reigns and something still could, Strowman is also the only other guy you could put in that spot as well.”
Why would anything happen to make either of those Superstars unavailable? Well, there's currently some controversy surrounding The Big Dog and these steroid accusations, and while the company doesn't seem to have taken any action yet, they may be forced to if any evidence comes to light.
The Beast Incarnate, meanwhile, has been teasing a possible return to The UFC, and is not considered to be very reliable at the best of times.
What do you guys make of this rumor? Would you like to see Strowman involved in the Universal Title match at 'Mania?
