Is Tyler Breeze retired?

The former WWE star made an impact in NXT when he rebranded himself in 2014. The “Prince Pretty” gimmick got over with the crowd and it seemed that Breeze had a bright future in WWE. Of course, when Triple H was running NXT, there was a difference between their audience vs. the main roster audience, so it was never a guarantee that his gimmick would work on the bigger brands.

But Breeze went to the main roster and he wasn’t taken seriously as the former WWE star was quickly relegated to lower/mid-card status. However, his work with Fandango gave his WWE career a resurgence that he desperately needed and the duo even won the NXT Tag Team titles. Unfortunately, when they dropped the belts after a very short reign (56 days), they went back down to being enhancement talent until their release in 2021.

While his partner Fandango (who goes by JDC now) has been active in the wrestling world, Tyler’s been quiet since his WWE departure. Though he’s had a couple of matches here and there, it doesn’t seem that the former Breeze will go back to having a full time career anytime soon. Is Tyler Breeze on the brink of retirement? He talks about that to Jamal Niaz of Monopoly Events.

“It’s kind of funny because sometimes I feel very retired, and then other times, I’m like, you know what? I’m not.” He told Jamal Niaz of Monopoly Events. “I’m not really. It’s just a matter of timing for certain things,” Tyler Breeze said. “I stopped wrestling full-time in 2021. I was just kind of enjoying life for a little bit. Then I had my first kid, so I was just enjoying being a dad, being a husband—stuff like that.

“Branching back out, getting in on the indies a little bit… it’s still very much alive. So yeah, I’m not done. I’m not done. Where you’ll see me next? That’s still to be seen. But really, it’s just a matter of time,” added Tyler Breeze.

However, just because he isn’t a full time performer these days doesn’t mean his aspirations for returning to WWE/NXT aren’t there. Breeze talks about the current NXT roster and the top tag team he would like to face with Fandango. He specifically named Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom) as a team he would like to step into the ring with.

He even mentions a possible return to the developmental brand sometime in the future. Check out the full interview where the former WWE star goes fully in-depth with these topics and more regarding his professional wrestling career.
