Is This Why WWE Replaced Rusev With Chris Jericho For The GREATEST ROYAL RUMBLE Casket Match?
Ever since WWE officially announced that they'd decided to go with Y2J over Rusev to face The Undertaker at The Greatest Royal Rumble, fans have been wondering why. Now, we may finally have our answer...
WWE recently announced that The Undertaker would battle Rusev in a casket match at the upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble event, before revealing that The Lion of Bulgaria had actually been replaced by Chris Jericho just a couple of days later.
Since then, fans have wondered what the reason for the change was, with some social media posts and rumors leading many to speculate that Rusev may have decided to part ways with the company.
Well, it looks like fans of the Bulgarian Brute can rest easy - at least accoring to Wrestling Observer's Bryan Alvarez:
“There is no scandal involving Rusev, it is all storyline. Rusev is no longer in the match with The Undertaker. He has been replaced by Chris Jericho. They ran some goofy stuff on social media to I guess get people talking — which they did. Rusev I believe is going to be in the Greatest Royal Rumble so he’s still on the show.
The point of this is that Rusev is not quitting. He’s not leaving. He’s not getting fired. Nothing like that. They just decide Jericho vs Undertaker would be a better match even though they announced Rusev vs Undertaker before they figured that out.”
If true, this is obviously great news - but does it indicate that WWE will finally give Rusev that main event push the fans are clearly crying out for? We'll just have to wait and see.
