Is WWE SMACKDOWN LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan Teasing A Return To The Ring?

Sadly, Daniel Bryan won't be taking on The Miz at WrestleMania as most of us hoped would be the case, but on last night's Talking Smack he appeared to tease a return to active competition...

Daniel Bryan's retirement from active competition due to a series of concussions came as a crushing blow to fans of the American Dragon, but with a lengthy stint left on his WWE contract, we knew the company would find a place for him somewhere. That's been as SmackDown Live's General Manager, but could a return to the squared circle be in the cards for Bryan?

During last night's episode of Talking Smack, The Miz once again made some digs at Bryan over the fact he can't wrestle and the GM's response is very interesting indeed.

The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion has said on numerous occasions that he's been cleared by all but WWE's official doctor and that he considered asking to be released from the company so he can wrestle elsewhere. Unfortunately, WWE could freeze his contract and essentially hold him hostage, so his role as GM could just be a way of seeing that out.

After all, it would make sense for only around eighteen months to be left on Bryan's contract and if WWE continues to refuse to let him wrestle, he's clearly going to go and do it elsewhere. Ring of
Honor, NJPW, and the Indie scene, in general, would welcome him with open arms and it's entirely feasible that we could see Bryan back in the ring if he parts ways with WWE.

We'll just have to wait and see, but you can check out the exchange in the Tweet below. That rumoured match with The Miz clearly isn't happening anyway despite speculation to the contrary.
