It Doesn't Sound Like WWE Has Longterm Plans For James Ellsworth As He's Still Not Under Contract

James Ellsworth recently made his WWE return to reteam with Carmella but it doesn't sound like the company has longterm plans for him because he's still not under contract. Hit the jump for everything we know!

There's been a lot of speculation about whether or not WWE has signed James Ellsworth to a new contract now he's working with Carmella again but it's been confirmed that the divisive Superstar is actually being used on a per date basis as opposed to a full-time schedule (which means that he's only being used for sporadic appearances on television rather than competing at live events).

That more than likely means WWE doesn't have a longterm plan for Ellsworth and his act with Carmella is already feeling stale as it is basically more of the same after their work together last year.

However, this week's SmackDown Live saw Carmella make it clear to Paige that she and Ellsworth aren't an item and now she's feuding with Becky Lynch ahead of SummerSlam, it could be that his run is already over (then again, he and Lynch do have history). We'll just have to wait and see for now but this WWE return is good news for Ellsworth because he's able to charge much more for Indie bookings.
