We've been hearing a lot about NXT Superstar Matt Riddle having backstage heat in WWE and it was even recently claimed that Vince McMahon made the decision for him to be quickly eliminated from the Royal Rumble match as a means of punishing him for challenging main roster Superstars.

Well, on Saturday night, Riddle grabbed the microphone at an NXT Live event and once again vowed to get his hands on The Beast and retire the current WWE Champion.

How is he getting away with defying orders and continuing to challenge Lesnar? According to Dave Meltzer, NXT actually gave Riddle permission to say that about the RAW Superstar so those of you who are convinced that the entire thing is a work - including that rumoured verbal altercation last month - may be on to something.

WWE has likely noticed the online buzz these comments from Riddle have generated and while it's hard to say when a match between the two men could take place (especially with WrestleMania on the horizon), it does seem to be taking shape now.
