Despite online rumblings that Chad Gable will soon be a free agent, it appears the Alpha Academy leader is indeed staying in WWE. He's received a big push as the heel leader of Alpha Academy recently and has fared much better on Triple H's watch than he did when Vince McMahon labelled him "Shorty G."
While there's reportedly been interest from AEW, PW Insider claims that Gable has likely already signed a new WWE deal or is extremely close to doing so.
It's said that everyone is working under the belief he'll remain with WWE, no great surprise when he's scheduled to challenge Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship at Clash at the Castle in Glasgow, Scotland, this Saturday.
Even if Gable fails to capture the title, it's clear WWE has big plans for him and Otis (we're also expecting to see a new Team Angle-like faction with the Creed Brothers).
Unfortunately, someone whose time in WWE is nearing its end is Ricochet.
Over the weekend, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer claimed things were still "up in the air" when it came to his WWE future. He disputed claims the former United States Champion had given notice but was under the belief that Ricochet had made a decision about his in-ring future.
Well, PW Insider claims Ricochet's final WWE appearance will be during tonight's RAW. They stick by their previous report and it seems he's done with the company. Rumour has it he's AEW-bound, but that won't be happening for at least 90 days after his current deal expires. We're also expecting Bron Breakker to destroy him if this is indeed his last RAW.
It's unclear what this means for his fiancee, Samantha Irvine, who has become a beloved figure among fans as a ring announcer. There's nothing to say she also has to leave, of course, and there are many AEW and WWE couples who have been part of the competing companies.
"Most people probably identify with the fact that it’s easier to get people to hate you than it is to like you," Gable recently said of his heel turn. "This version of it, believe it or not, is probably the closest to maybe my real personality than anything else I’ve done. Not to say that I’m like a jerk, but I’m a very hard-nosed, disciplined human being in real life. If you ask anyone close to me, they’d tell you the same."
"I don’t necessarily talk to them the way that I talk to the Alpha Academy right now. They also do know that when it comes down to the things that I take seriously like training and fitness, anything I apply that discipline to, they don’t interfere in that part of my life. Otherwise, those tendencies in me do come out and they might catch me a little crankier than I normally would be."
As always, stay tuned for updates as we have them.
