There have been rumblings for a long time now that Dolph Ziggler is on his way out of WWE but it never seems to come to pass. While recent reports have claimed that he's refused to sign another WWE contract, he made an unexpected appearance at the Royal Rumble PPV and Bryan Alvarez has now revealed that the Showoff actually came to an agreement with the company as far back as last fall.
It does appear as if Ziggler is taking some sort of WWE hiatus as he embarks on a standup career and it's feasible that could have been factored into his deal somehow as he wasn't buried at the Rumble.
Ziggler's run with Drew McIntyre helped put him back on the map as did some impressive matches with Seth Rollins. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear as if WWE has any main event plans for him but Ziggler clearly decided that staying where he is was a better option than heading to All Elite Wrestling.
