It Sounds Like Mickie James' In-Ring Career Could Be Winding Down As WWE Considers Her For Backstage Role

As we've previously reported, former Women's Champion Mickie James has been out of action since June due to a serious knee injury. Now, it sounds like a return to in-ring competition is far from a guarantee because PW Insider is reporting that there's now been talk backstage about her transitioning into a backstage role in WWE as a producer.

James has actually been wrestling since 1999. She joined TNA in 2003 before moving to WWE in 2005 for an extremely memorable storyline with Trish Stratus.

She then left WWE in 2010 and worked for a number of companies before returning for NXT TakeOver: Toronto. With any luck, she will get the chance to compete in one more match but as she was recently serving on the Main Event commentary team, we may not want to hold our breath.

Stay tuned for updates.
