Despite getting his old theme tune back, Jeff Hardy has not been booked particularly well on RAW in recent weeks. It probably doesn't help that he contracted COVID right as his rivalry with Karrion Kross was beginning, but it was still a shock to see him among the WWE Superstars chasing after the 24/7 Championship on this Monday's show.
Hardy ended up trending on social media for hours, with fans clearly unhappy with how he was booked.
Inside the Ropes recently caught up with Hardy, and asked for his take on what happened. "Monday night in Miami...that’s just what I felt like doing, that’s what I had to do," he responded.
"I was in the chase for the 24/7 Title and it just didn’t work out. It’s one of those things, man, I show up to work and do what they need me to do and move on. That’s in the past and this Monday is the future so I’m super excited." Clearly, he didn't want to talk about it, and it boils down to him just doing what he was told by WWE management, like it or not.
Hardy did later hint that he could face Karrion Kross at Extreme Rules, though we don't see that ending well for him either. At this point, it simply doesn't feel like WWE views Hardy as a top star, and that doesn't bode well for him in the company over the next few years.
Unfortunately, short of a release, we don't anticipate seeing Jeff in AEW anytime soon.
