Jeff Hardy is once again Intercontinental Champion after pinning AJ Styles to win the prestigious title on SmackDown.

The Phenomenal One attacked Hardy before their match, injuring his knee in the process. It looked like Jeff was going to have to forfeit, but he stuck on a knee brace and mad it to the ring for a pretty sloppy bout.

Both of these guys are capable of much more, and the match was only hindered by the pointless injury angle. The brace did come into play when Hardy hit Styles in the face with it and followed up with a Swanton for the win, but why couldn't they just have Jeff go over clean without all the extra ga-ga?

This will probably give AJ an excuse to complain and demand a rematch, but it still felt like an unnecessary addition to what could be a very compelling feud.

There's a lot of speculation that Styles will get his rematch at SummerSlam, but that remains to be seen.

What did you guys think of this match? Were you glad to see The Charismatic Enigma win the IC title, or would you have preferred if Styles had a longer reign? Let us know in the comments.
