When Jeff Hardy was given his classic entrance theme back shortly after fans returned to WWE's shows, the hope was that it might be leading to bigger things for the Charismatic Enigma. Instead, it wasn't too long after that we saw Hardy chasing the 24/7 Championship with the rest of the jobbers in that division.
During a recent interview with Sportbible, Hardy shared his thoughts on where he'd like to see his WWE character go and indicated that a heel turn feels like the right move for him at this stage.
"I think there’s a way to kind of turn heel without turning on the fans," Hardy said. "It’s like turning on the company where it’s something like, ‘Ok, I’m 44 years old. I’ve been doing this for so long and I’m really being mistreated – what’s going on here? Should I ask for my release from World Wrestling Entertainment?’"
"This is not a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ question, it’s a ‘Yay!’ or ‘Boo!’ question – let them yay or let them the boo and let them decide. That’s just an idea that popped into my head but it might be a route to take," he continued. "I feel like there’s something to be unleashed inside me that wants to get out and rage to a certain extent and hopefully, we’ll figure that out."
You don't need us to read between the lines for you here; it's obvious that Jeff isn't happy with how he's been booked and hopes to vent some of those frustrations through a new character. He's talked a lot about wanting to bring Willow back, of course, but as of right now, that doesn't seem to be a priority.
What do you hope the future holds in store for Jeff Hardy?
