Jey Uso and Roman Reigns are set to go to war inside Hell in a Cell with the Universal Championship on the line, but, as we expected, their feud wasn't actually supposed to extend past their terrific match at the recent Clash of Champions PPV.
During a YouTube interview, Jey revealed that he was originally going to face off against his cousin in a "one and done" encounter to get The Tribal Chief to his next challenger, but the match was so damn good that Vince McMahon decided to let their rivalry play out a little longer.
“This was a one and done, supposed to be," said the multiple-time tag team champion. "They were like ‘this sh*t is fire right here, bro’. I think I was just to get Roman to the next homie, but man, you see the storytelling, this is real. The feeling’s right there, the promos right there. If you watch the match back, the match was basic, what grooved is the damn story and that is the main thing."
Recent reports indicated that Reigns was being lined up to take on The Fiend at Hell in a Cell, so it looks like that feud may have been put on hold when Roman and Jey tore the house down at Clash of Champions. Now that Bray Wyatt has been drafted to Raw, there's speculation that the returning Daniel Bryan may emerge as The Big Dog's next challenger.
