When WWE was looking to break into India, they started pushing Jinder Mahal and put the WWE Championship on him. It wasn't an overly successful run, and after he dropped the title to AJ Styles, Mahal quickly started falling down the card. Since then, he's aligned himself with The Bollywood Boys, but that partnership is clearly at an end.
Well, Mahal finally returned to action during last night's Main Event tapings. He faced Jeff Hardy and was joined by Indus Sher, a tag team comprised of Rinku Singh and Saurav Gurjar.
We haven't seen Mahal on TV since last May (when he was also on Main Event), and the last time he appeared on RAW was in the April prior to that when he defeated Akira Tozawa. While there were plans for him to be pushed as a babyface at the time, it's clear he's now back to being a heel.
It's interesting that WWE decided to debut this gimmick on a show pretty much no one watches, but it could be that they were testing the waters for an upcoming RAW return. The fact Hardy is competing on this show, though...well, it's pretty easy to see why Matt decided to head to AEW, eh?
