John Cena Confirmed To Play DUKE NUKEM; Joins The Voice-Cast Of THE VOYAGE OF DOCTOR DOOLITTLE
John Cena's transition from pro-wrestling Superstar to bonafide Hollywood megastar continues. The WWE "free agent" has now booked roles in tow upcoming projects: Duke Nukem, and the new Dr. Doolittle movie.
Following on from initial reports that John Cena was in line to play Duke Nukem in an upcoming big-screen adaptation of the popular video game, producer Andrew Form confirmed that he's on board during an interview with CinemaBlend. Or at least, he will be if he likes the script!
"Yeah, that's what we're working with now. He is. Yes. We don't have a script yet, so that is confirmed at this point but if he reads the script and he doesn't like the script I'm sure there's ways that he could pull out, but right now he's our guy."
In addition, Robert Downey Jr. announced last night that the multi-time WWE Champion will provide the voice of a CG polar bear in The Voyage of Doctor Doolittle:
Cena is fast becoming a hugely in-demand Hollywood star, and while that's obviously great for John, if the roles keep coming in it's inevitable that he'll be spending less time in a WWE ring.
We have his upcoming 'Mania match against The Undertaker to look forward to, but after that? We'll just have to wait and see.
