John Cena Not Expected To Get Physical At WrestleMania With PEACEMAKER Season 2 On The Horizon

While John Cena is still expected to make an appearance at this year's WrestleMania, it sounds like the 16-time WWE Champion won't be able to get physical as he'll soon start shooting Peacemaker season 2.

This year's WrestleMania will be headlined by The Rock and Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 and Reigns vs. Rhodes II on Night 2.

The expectation among fans is that some familiar faces from the past could get involved with one or both matches, and John Cena and Stone Cold Steve Austin's names have come up repeatedly in recent weeks. However, the Leader of the Cenation likely won't be getting physical.

Why not? Well, we can once again blame those pesky Hollywood constraints!

It's already been confirmed that Peacemaker season 2 will shoot over the summer, and PWInsider.com is today reporting that while Cena is expected in town for WrestleMania this weekend, it's still unclear whether he'll factor into the show.

However, what they can say is that Cena "will be off the board for anything major in the physical WWE realm for most of the remainder of 2024." That's because he's shooting Peacemaker between June and November, with cameras expected to stop rolling around Thanksgiving.

We're sure Cena can at least hit someone (The Rock, hopefully) with an Attitude Adjustment, but wouldn't bank on him doing much more than that. Like The Final Boss, he simply can't risk injuring himself while working on movies or TV shows because that risks delaying production by months, potentially costing a studio millions of dollars.

"That's not a maybe," Cena recently said of his planned retirement from in-ring action. "That time is gonna come and it's gonna come soon."

"I made a promise to the consumer early on, to WWE fans, 'cause I know how tough it is to be a fan," the WWE veteran, who made his debut in 2002, continued. "You gotta come out of pocket - and WWE has a ton of content - it takes a lot to be a passionate fan and our fanbase is passionate and global. I never wanted to go out there just for the sake of going out there."

"And I'm gonna be 47 this year. I feel great. So inside I feel great, but I know what it takes to be a WWE performer night in and night out and I don't ever wanna just go out there and do it to do it," Cena explained. "I wanna have the passion - the same passion as the fanbase - and I wanna give them exactly what they give me. The miles on the speedometer say, 'Hey, that's gotta be done before 50.'"
