Well, it looks like Kevin Owens will remain with WWE. We'd previously heard that his current contract would end in January, and after some very interesting Tweets from the former Universal Champion, it began to look like KO would make the leap to AEW and be the latest "All Elite" addition to the roster.
According to Fightful Select, Owens made the decision to re-sign with WWE in what's believed to be a multi-year deal. It's said company officials made an "excellent offer" to get him to stay, and they're said to be "over the moon" with his decision to remain with WWE. While AEW would have almost certainly been interested in signing Owens, it doesn't sound like they'd have been able to match WWE's offer.
Ultimately, money talks, and Owens was no doubt thinking about what's best for his family. It's also important to note that there are many wrestlers in WWE who are more than happy to be working there.
We can't help but imagine the sort of matches we could have seen with Owens in AEW, but there's a lot of amazing things he can do in WWE as well. He signed with them back in 2014, and has since won the NXT Championship, the Universal Championship, the Intercontinental Championship (twice), and the United States Championship (three times).
Keep checking back here for updates as we have them!
