Bleacher Report recently caught up with former Universal Champion Kevin Owens, and during that, he made a surprise revelation about scrapped plans for him to return to NXT.
While that kid kind of happen when he served as the mystery partner for Tommaso Ciampa, Donovan Dijak, and Keith Lee in the men’s WarGames Match at the NXT TakeOver: WarGames III event, it was a one-off, and not the permanent return to the "development brand" Owens alludes to here.
"Last year at some point, I was going back to NXT," he revealed. "It was all in motion and it was going to happen, and then it didn’t. To say that’s a thought that crossed my mind would be an understatement, but I would tell you right now that that’s not the case anymore. That’s just not where I’m at anymore."
"Now, I want to be on Raw or be on SmackDown and just fight like hell to create some memorable moments for everybody," Owens added. "That’s all I want at this point."
It sounds a lot like Owens has come to terms with the fact that, for now, WWE isn't going to push him as a main event talent, so he's more interested in just being part of great storylines. Luckily, his recent interactions with The Fiend definitely fit the bill in that respect.
