Well, it's finally official: Kofi Kingston will face Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania.
Tonight on SmackDown, Vince McMahon gave Kofi's New Day partners the chance to earn their leader another shot when they were placed in a Tag-Team Gauntlet Match. Big E and Xavier Woods managed to defeat Gallows and Anderson, Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura, and The Bar, but after Sheamus and Cesaro lost they put E through a table. When The Usos music hit, things looked bleak for Woods - but Jimmy and Jey want to see Kofi get his title opportunity as much as anyone, and they forfeited the match.
That wasn't quite it, though, as the beleaguered duo still had to face Daniel Bryan and Rowan.
Fortunately, Big E managed to trap Rowan under the announce table, leading to a count-out victory. Once the bell rang, the likes of Becky Lynch, Kevin Owens, Aleister Black, Ricochet and more came out to surround the ring and show their respect.
Backstage, Vince confirmed that Kingston will indeed be going to 'Mania... but wondered if a "B+player can defeat Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship."
Yes Vince, we believe he can.
