All this week, it's been reported that there are plans for NXT Superstar Matt Riddle to leave the Wednesday night show behind to make his SmackDown debut. Well, that was made official lthis past Friday night as WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle appeared in a backstage segment to confirm his planned arrival on the blue brand.
He started by saying that he used to run SmackDown alongside the likes of Eddie Guerrero, John Cena, and The Undertaker, and after hyping Randy Orton vs. Edge at Backlash, he said it was time to talk about the future.
Explaining that he was there to reveal a man who could be the next face of SmackDown, Angle reflected on serving as the special guest referee during that "Cage Fight" on NXT this past Wednesday. Then, he introduced a video package showing clips of Riddle in action, and a promo of him talking about being laid back and chill, but also more than able to crank it up with a flip of a switch.
He concluded by saying that he's defeating all kinds of Bros in all kinds of rings, and he's done it all...without wearing shoes!
