Love him or hate him, Logan Paul has proven himself to be a legitimate talent in a WWE ring. He clearly has a gift and has show that in memorable matches against the likes of Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Ricochet, and Rey Mysterio.

He squared off with the latter at Crown Jewel and defeated the WWE Hall of Famer to become the new United States Champion.

During the match, Paul successfully managed to stop Mysterio from landing on his head/neck in a botched spot that could have resulted in a serious, career-threatening injury for Rey. Talking on the Impaulsive podcast, the YouTuber reflected on the praise he's been receiving for the quick action he took in that moment.

"I looked at the clip and upon assessing my performance, while I think I did save Rey Mysterio, I think I also almost killed Rey Mysterio," Paul admitted. "I think I was too far back and I think he didn't clear enough ground for the move...we both, I think, made a mistake and I had to catch him. I wasn't gonna not catch him."

"I'll take the praise," he added with a laugh.

During last Friday's episode of SmackDown, Mysterio was attached by his LWO ally Santos Escobar in what ended up being a shocking heel turn for the babyface wrestler. As it happens, Rey was written off television because he legitimately needs knee surgery.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the luchador has been suffering from a torn meniscus in his right knee for over three months. The surgery required to repair that will put him on the shelf for at least six to eight weeks, though that means he should be back in time for the Royal Rumble next January.

Back to Paul, though, and it seems he's not finished with Rey just yet. In fact, he hopes to team up with the WWE Hall of Famer's reviled son, Dominik.

"I'm trying do some Mick Foley-type, off the top of the cage onto the table from 30-feet high, Jeff Hardy-type sh*t, Swanton Bomb. That's what I want to do," the United States Champion added. "I want to do it with the endeavour and pursuit of getting more belts. Do I become tag team champion with Dominik Mysterio? Could be fun. You got two heels, you got two people that the audience loves to hate. I like Dom."
