Signed in 2015 after competing in the sixth season of WWE Tough Enough, Mandu Rose initially competed on NXT before moving up to the main roster. There, she found success alongside Sonya Deville and Paige as part of Absolution and Fire and Desire before embarking on a memorable romance angle with Otis.
Fans were surprised to see Rose return to NXT in 2021 as part of Toxic Attraction with a striking new look and were even more shocked when she won the NXT Women's Championship from Raquel Rodriguez later that same year.
The former Golden Goddess would go on to unify that belt with the NXT UK Women's title, cementing herself as a top female Superstar and proving that she had what it took to potentially go back to the main roster where she could hang with the likes of Becky Lynch, Bayley, and Bianca Belair.
However, at the end of 2022, it was revealed that WWE had released Rose after some very risqué photos from her FanTime subscription page went viral on social media.
While not exactly pornographic, they were still a far cry from PG and showed off more of the former NXT Women's Champion than fans had ever seen on TV or Instagram. More softcore than hardcore, they still pushed the boundaries of what's acceptable from WWE's point of view, hence why the company no longer felt she could continue working for them.
There was initially speculation that Rose might head to IMPACT Wrestling or AEW (particularly after she'd shown so much improvement in NXT), but the Golden Goddess has yet to step back into the squared circle.
She still talks about the professional wrestling business, though, and recently ran afoul of WWE Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton. Now, Rose has taken aim at the company itself for what she perceives as an attempt to erase her from history.
Stephanie Vaquer recently achieved a historic milestone at NXT Roadblock by becoming the first woman in the company to hold both the NXT Women's Championship and the NXT Women's North American Championship.
Rose has called WWE's failure to acknowledge her past achievement - when she held the NXT Women's Championship and the NXT UK Women's Championship concurrently - "pathetic," but many fans have taken issue with that assessment.
Her victory was a title unification as those championships were merged to become a new NXT Women's Championship. Yes, Rose carried both belts around, but we don't think the WWE is wrong on this one.
