Mark Henry officially signs a legends deal with WWE.
After his brief tenure in AEW where the former World Heavyweight Champion mainly helped backstage as a producer, “The World’s Strongest Man” returns to WWE, but under a new legends deal. Mark Henry himself announced the news to a rowdy crowd at ringside collectibles.
A legends deal for Henry isn’t a surprise as it was only a matter of time before the two sides re-united. Last August, Jacob Henry, the WWE Hall of Famer's son, announced that he had signed a deal with WWE.
"The crowd is out here tonight, you seem pretty lively. I think it's time, I think it's time for people to know. For those who don't know, I'll tell you what's going on in my life. I am a collegiate wrestler at the University of Oklahoma. But, some big news that will come out in the next couple of days [crowd starts chanting NXT]. I think you guys should be the first to know that I'm going to be a future superstar and it's been put on paper. I have officially signed a deal with the WWE"
Jacob is still down in developmental and there’s no word on when he could be making his television debut.
Henry’s also made a few live appearances for the company in the past couple of months. Henry was a valued WWE star for 20 plus years, though many will go back to his Hall of Pain era as the peak of his WWE career.
The 53-year-old has fought most of the major stars such as The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton, Triple H, Big Show, Kane, and John Cena (who would have forgotten that incredible “retirement” promo) being just some of the notable names. Henry is retired, so it’s doubtful that we’ll see him back in the ring, but then again, this is a never say never business. Until then, Henry will simply enjoy the perks of being on a legends deal with WWE.
