It's been quite some time since we saw Mark Henry compete in a WWE ring and that's led to speculation he's retired. During a recent interview, the World's Strongest Man made it clear his career isn't over and the former WWE Champion has now clarified what exactly his current role in the company is.
While it's been widely reported that he's taken on the role of a brand ambassador, it sounds like there's quite a bit more to it than just that and his role is now very much behind the scenes instead.
"For the most part, my whole deal right now is trying to bring more awareness to the WWE, it’s charities, [and] its programs. Travel the world and introduce our business to people that don’t have the WWE. Our developmental franchise, NXT, I scout. There’s guys in the company now: Braun Strowman, Baron Corbin, [and] Apollo Crews that I’ve helped cultivate, ya know and say, ‘Hey, that guy can do something. Bring him in.’"
So, not a bad gig for Henry but it is a shame he's never received a farewell match! It is widely believed that he'll enter the Hall of Fame either this year or next, though, and that would definitely be satisfying to see. What do you guys think of these remarks?
