The next premium live event for World Wrestling Entertainment will be WWE NXT Heatwave, taking place Sunday, August 24, 2025 at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Three matches were announced for that show on tonight's episode of NXT, though two of those matches still don't have a 100 percent definitive layout at the moment.
Before explaining that, let's dive into the match we know is straightforward: Jordynne Grace against Blake Monroe.
This all goes back to WWE Evolution, wherein Grace asked Monroe to be ringside for her NXT Women's Championship match against Jacy Jayne. Monroe turned on Grace, costing her the potential title win and sparking a feud between the two. Monroe has cut several promos since then, talking about how Grace is not glamorous enough to be the women's champion and making this all about her looks.
Because of that in part, NXT General Manager Ava wants Grace to get some revenge, as Grace is also on the hunt after Monroe put her on the shelf with a neck injury after giving her a DDT onto a steel chair. Grace will apparently be cleared to compete by Heatwave.
Ava had her hands full with DarkState on this episode, as that quartet went after both Hank Walker and Tank Ledger in one segment, as well as Oba Femi, Trick Williams, Je'Von Evans, and TNA Wrestling's Moose at another point in the night.
Hank and Tank were attacked after retaining the NXT Tag Team Championship titles over Chase U's Kale Dixon and Uriah Connors. The other four were arguing over who would get the next opportunity at Oba Femi's NXT Championship.
To settle these scores, Ava announced three matches. Next week, all four members of DarkState will be in an eight-man tag team match against Femi, Evans, Williams, and Moose. In two weeks on the NXT episode that takes place in Philadelphia, Evans will face Williams in a No. 1 contender's match to determine who fights Femi at Heatwave. Hank and Tank, who want some payback, will face two members of DarkState with the tag titles on the line at Heatwave.
As that #1 contender's match hasn't happened yet, and WWE hasn't announced which two members of DarkState will be competing, those are still a bit up in the air for the lineup.
Nevertheless, here is a recap of what has been announced for NXT Heatwave so far:
- Blake Monroe vs. Jordynne Grace
- NXT Championship Match: Oba Femi (c) vs. TBD (Je’Von Evans or Trick Williams)
- NXT Tag Team Championship Match: Hank Walker & Tank Ledger (c) vs. two members of DarkState to be announced
