Matt Riddle is one of WWE's most outspoken Superstars, but he shared some surprisingly harsh comments about the company's Universal Champion during a recent interview with Bleacher Report.
Asked about the record-breaking SummerSlam PPV, Riddle took issue with Roman Reigns taking credit for the event's success and said he believes that RKBro winning the RAW Tag Team Championships was a big factor in that. As always, it's hard to say whether this was meant to be in character, but it's interesting that Riddle even took a shot at what Reigns recently said about CM Punk not being over.
"No disrespect to Roman, he seems like a swell fella, but at the same time, it's like when people say they're a good parent," he said. "You know what? If you were a good parent, your kids would be telling you you're a good parent."
"When he’s saying ‘Acknowledge me’ or ‘I move the needle,’ no, you don’t. You’re related to The Rock. Shut up. Like, I’m not impressed, I can beat you up in a real fight," the former MMA competitor said. "So, shut your mouth. You’re not moving needles. I’m the real stallion, RK-Bro is moving the merch, we’re moving the needle, and that’s it. I don’t want to say too much, I’m not trying to get in trouble. Hey, hats off to him. He’s amazing at what he does."
"I do like what he does, but at the same time, it’s like, get off your high horse. You’re in that spot for a reason. You’re not a bro. You’re second generation. I’m first generation."
It definitely feels like there's an element of reality in what Riddle is saying, and while he could just be playing into his persona, it's possible he simply isn't the biggest Roman Reigns fan!
There's a chance he's angling for a match with The Big Dog, of course, and revisiting comments like these would be a good way to start that should they ever end up on the same brand. We'll see.
