Matt Riddle has never shied away from sharing his true thoughts in interviews, and that's seemingly led to a lot of trouble for him behind the scenes. After calling out WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg and former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar, it was reported that he had backstage heat with Vince McMahon for what were deemed disrespectful comments about his peers.
During a recent interview with the Hindustan Times, the new SmackDown Superstar responded to that. "When it comes to people that matter, people that are important, people that sign my checks, I haven’t upset any of them. They all like me and that’s what matters to me," he explained.
"Sometimes I am going to ruffle some feathers for real and I am gonna get people really mad for real. But I can tell you this, my employer does not mind. Some of the toys in the toy chest mind but that’s not my problem either. I think they take my demeanor and my mindset or how I look at things as disrespect."
"I think even Vince might have taken it as me being disrespectful," Riddle revealed. "When I talked to Goldberg, I told him I wasn’t being disrespectful, I was just telling the truth and me being honest."
He concluded by pointing out that Lesnar misunderstood his comments, while what he said about Goldberg may have hurt his ego. He believes he can now change their minds about having a match with him as he has the potential to become a top star moving forward who could draw money in the ring with them.
