We've heard a lot about Matt Riddle reportedly having backstage heat in WWE, with some reports claiming that the way he's called out wrestlers like Goldberg and Brock Lesnar has led to altercations with them and other Superstars. It's even been claimed that Vince McMahon deliberately buried him at Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble with the way he was booked there.
Now, though, the NXT Tag Team Champion has been asked by Sportskeeda whether there's any truth to those rumours, and Riddle finally cleared things up. "I’ll tell you this. Do I have heat with WWE or NXT, or the people that run the show? No. Do I have heat with some people who think I’m disrespectful at times because they don’t understand how business works? Yes. Do people take things too seriously? Yes."
So, it sounds like he has rubbed some people up the wrong way with his behaviour online, but he's not buying those claims that he has major heat in WWE and doesn't feel like fans should may much attention either.
"I’m a tag champ, I was in the Rumble, so how does this guy have so much nuclear heat? I was in Vince McMahon‘s office just three weeks ago, before this thing broke out. I was in headquarters talking to him – and, yeah, we mentioned the heat I have of certain people but, at the end of the day, he signs the checks, he makes it happen for me and they’re in control, not the talent."
"To answer your question, yes, some people I have heat with. But most of it is just high school, catty, ‘He said this’, people who just can’t take a joke or a work." Ultimately, it doesn't really matter what his fellow wrestlers think as Riddle is clearly on good terms with both Triple H and Vince McMahon and, ultimately, that's what matters!
