The Undertaker's wife Michelle McCool recently did an interview with NYPost.com, and she addressed a wide range of topics, including whether she was aware The Undertaker's undefeated streak was going to reach its end at WrestleMania 30 in 2014 at the hands of Brock Lesnar.
Confirming that she found out late afternoon on the day of the PPV, McCool admitted to being shocked her husband was fine with it, but pointed out that The Undertaker understands business is business.
However, things then got really interesting when she recalled how WWE actually wanted The Streak to end at WrestleMania 24 in 2008 when The Undertaker faced Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship. "Actually I remember a few years prior that WrestleMania versus Edge they talked about Edge breaking the streak and it was Edge that was actually like, ‘That makes zero sense. I don’t want to do that."
"Why would I do that? The fans already love him. What’s it gonna do for Edge?’ It was Edge that went to bat for the streak," she continued. "I know they had talked about it prior to the match with Brock, but you know it happened. It’s fine, it’s not like it’s an end-all, be-all for Mark by any stretch of the imagination."
Edge's reaction is definitely an interesting one, and we'll hopefully get to hear his thoughts on that down the line. Time will tell on that front, but how would you have felt about The Streak ending back in 2008?
