It's become commonplace for WWE to split up tag teams during the Draft, but there were some real shockers this year. The New Day is essentially no more, while Heavy Machinery's time on the main roster as a team is over before it's even really begun!
Mr. Money in the Bank Otis has been drafted to SmackDown, while Tucker is on his way to RAW. Now, the plan is for them to be singles competitors, but how well they'll fare in that respect is hard to say. Talking on WWE's The Bump, Otis shared his reaction to the decision.
"It really hit us big time after Talking Smack, after hearing the news," he said. "As we walked away as being guests, we still hear Kayla [Braxton] saying no more Tucker and Otis Heavy Machinery. We’re walking to the back of the locker room, and legit I saw him just start wiping his face, and I’m like, oh man this is gonna be real."
"He’s the only guy I can really trust to have my back in the ring is Tucker, and for him not being there anymore is crushing, I’m still in shock," Otis admitted. "We came in, full tag team, one day, we’ll get the tag team titles. We didn’t get the titles in NXT. We lost two chances at the SmackDown Tag Team Titles. It’ll be bitter to sweet if we could one day come back together and win those Tag Team Championships."
Time will tell whether that happens, but right now, Otis has a briefcase which leaves the door open to him becoming the WWE or Universal Champion.
