Despite being stuck in the midcard for months now, Rusev's popularity has taken off in a big way recently thanks to his "Rusev Day" gimmick. Despite that, it looked like the Bulgarian Brute would be relegated to the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. However, plans changed a couple of weeks ago when Rusev was unexpectedly added to the United States Championship match.
While we recently heard that the change came as a result of "Rusev Day" merchandise selling well, it's now being reported that this change came for a very different - and unexpected - reason.
Apparently, Rusev has been unhappy with the way he's been used for a while now and had actually asked for his release from WWE as a result! Clearly not wanting to see him leave, the company changed plans for him and that's why he's been included in this match alongside Randy Orton, Jinder Mahal, and Bobby Roode. Will he win? Well, we'll find that out at WrestleMania...
