According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Vince McMahon reportedly changed both the men and women's Royal Rumble matches in order to create stronger main events for WrestleMania. Heading into this past Sunday's PPV, the plan was for Roman Reigns and Shayna Baszler to win but plans changed in the days leading up to that.

Has Reigns won, the plan was still for McIntyre to eliminate Brock Lesnar with the idea being that there was no need for him to win the match as the WWE Champion would come looking for payback.

Aleister Black was indeed set to win the Rumble at one point as RAW Executive Director Paul Heyman is keen on him but the feeling was that Drew McIntyre is more over right now and that him facing Lesnar will make a bigger main event.

The plan is still for Reigns to challenge The Fiend for the Universal Championship but, as we told you earlier today, McIntyre vs. Lesnar will end up being the actual main event of the show.
