During last Saturday's SummerSlam, Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns faced his cousin Jey Uso in Tribal Combat. Shortly after the bout, we learned the Head of the Table suffered an injury early on in the match, with some suggesting he could be sidelined until November's Survivor Series.
Since then, we've learned he's unlikely to miss any significant television time and Dave Meltzer provided an update in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
He says, "Reigns suffered either a hip or back injury from the top from Jey Uso about five minutes into his main event match." That's likely a reference to Jey hitting an outside dive on Roman, landing on his back in the process.
The Tribal Chief is scheduled for tonight's SmackDown where we'll see a "Hail The Tribal Chief" segment with the returning Jimmy (who cost Jey the match but, as far as we're aware, isn't currently aligned with Reigns).
In other news, it appears reports of Brock Lesnar being part of October's Fastlane PLE were, in fact, incorrect. After losing to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam, The Beast is now expected to take the rest of 2023 off, returning to WWE next year.
Meltzer reports that "the plan is for him to return on the television building up the Royal Rumble and from there going to WrestleMania."
While it's possible Lesnar will be part of this November's Saudi Arabia show, we wouldn't bank on it. We're definitely intrigued to see who WWE decides to unleash him on when WrestleMania season rolls around, though!
Whatever the case may be, Lesnar is clearly enjoying his time off, something that's evident from this video of him hitting the stage alongside singer Zac Brown at a recent concert...
