Five championships were on the line at WWE NXT Halloween Havoc, and some other titles were also discussion points on the event.
The first title bout was a Day of the Dead match for the NXT North American Championship, wherein Ethan Page retained his belt over the AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. by pinfall.
Following that was the odd circumstances revolving around the NXT Women's North American Championship. As a reminder, Sol Ruca was set to defend her title against Blake Monroe, but suffered an injury in her Friday Night SmackDown match alongside her tag team partner, ZARIA, when ZaRuca went up against Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship.
As a result, she was rendered not medically cleared to compete. But rather than to just relinquish the title outright and give it to Monroe (as "The Glamour" had suggested), ZARIA put up a different idea: that she could defend the title in Sol's honor and retain the title for her. Ruca and NXT General Manager Ava ultimately agreed on this, changing the match to Monroe against ZARIA.
Unfortunately for Ruca, it didn't matter, as Monroe was able to score a pinfall over ZARIA to win the title anyway, becoming the new NXT women's North American champion—her first title within WWE.
This means Ruca is also no longer a double champion, though she is still listed as holding the WWE Speed Women's Championship, as the future of that belt has yet to be addressed.
Right after that, Tatum Paxley defeated Jacy Jayne to win the NXT Women's Championship as well, which went down with Izzi Dame bringing the title belt into the ring and seemingly preparing to hit Paxley with it, only to hit Jayne in the face to give Paxley the advantage.
That was then followed by DarkState beating The Hardys in their Broken Rules match to recapture the NXT Tag Team Championship titles as well!
Ricky Saints was then able to retain the NXT Championship over Trick Williams in the main event.
In other news...
Speaking of championships, a WWE EVOLVE Women's Championship match has been booked for next Tuesday's episode of NXT, as Kendal Grey will defend the title against Lash Legend. Kelani Jordan will also defend the TNA Knockouts Championship against Jordynne Grace, and Axiom and Jasper Troy will face off in the tournament final to see who faces El Grande Americano for the WWE Speed Championship in the future, too.
On top of that, NXT Gold Rush was announced as a two-week set of special episodes going down on November 18th and November 25th at The Theater at Madison Square Garden. Though no matches have been announced at this time, what was announced was that those specials will feature not just NXT titles on the line, but also some representation from TNA Wrestling, AAA Lucha Libre Worldwide, and WWE EVOLVE.
