My Reaction To WWE, Nia Jax's Random Heel Turn & Other Things In Professional Wrestling My Reaction To WWE, Nia Jax's Random Heel Turn & Other Things In Professional Wrestling

This week in wrestling, RAW Women's champion Nia Jax turned heel, Austin Aries is once again Impact World Champion, and the cruiserweights steal the show in the WWE. Get my reaction on this past week's events.

Welcome. This article is set to focus on various topics of weekly events in wrestling. RAW, SMACKDOWN LIVE, NXT, 205 Live, RING OF HONOR, NEW JAPAN PRO-WRESTLING, IMPACT WRESTLING, or just any wrestling topic that I would like to cover briefly. Let’s not waste any more time:

·Imagine if the opening scene of The Dark Knight Rises, Batman straight up kills a bad guy. After the entire story in TDK was about the Joker trying to push our bat loving warrior to the dark side (and failing), he just murders a criminal making the entire plot of TDK pointless (and basically proving that Joker was right all along).

·That’s essentially what WWE did with Nia Jax. After building her up with a bully story for the past several months against Alexa Bliss, she torments a wrestler inside the ring this past week. On the surface, this was a good segment and Nia Jax is truly better as a heel; however, it completely negated the story they were telling with her for the past several months and made me feel that I wasted time investing in Nia Jax’s babyface arc.

·I hate WWE style turns. These wrestlers should not be treated as “just characters”. They shouldn’t feel like robots who can change at any moment or stay the same no matter the situation. I understand that we won’t get nuanced and intelligent character building as long as Kevin Dunn and Vince McMahon exist. I don’t expect writing on the levels of The Americans, Game Of Thrones, or The Sopranos, but for the love of god, can we please get competent writing?

·What a missed opportunity for the women’s gauntlet match. Ignoring the fact that Mickie James randomly turned again, Bayley, Sasha Banks, Ruby Riott, and James could have easily gone up to an hour and tear the house down. Instead, we got short matches that we didn’t have time to invest in and then the fresh babyface defeats the worn-out heel. Sigh…

·I look forward to the day when Bobby Roode becomes glorious again.

·I completely missed the smiling jackass Lashley and Sami Zayn segment for important reasons. Ramen noodles is a VERY complicated dish to make thus it required my full attention.

·I heard that Vince McMahon is currently unhappy with Kevin Owens because of his weight and this is complete bullshit if its true. I have no problems with how much Kevin Owens weighs. There are many fans who feel the exact same way. Owens stands out in a good way because he doesn’t look like the typical WWE guy. Plus, he is one of the best talkers in the world and a fantastic wrestler. He should be a main event heel but is being treated like a joke. It’s 2018, people care about the wrestling and character, not someone’s body weight or height.

·I don’t care for Big Cass honestly. The guy has been cutting solid promos, but he comes across as generic big wrestler 151. There’s nothing that stands out about him other than his height.

·Creative is veering too much into comedy when it comes to Nakamura’s character. He’s funny and I like that they’re putting the Kinshasa over as a dangerous move, but I feel he should be coming across as a violent crazed lunatic.

·Sorry, but I like Submission Sorority better. Team PCB just sounds like a woman’s emergency period. Why would I want to think about that?

·I say give Joe the win at Money In The Bank if a Smackdown star is indeed winning. The guy is on fire right now.

·Honestly, I wouldn’t be upset if anyone in the men’s match won. Each guy has main event potential and if creative doesn’t [frick] it up, then winning the MITB briefcase can do wonders for any of these men’s careers. Having the wrestler win the briefcase but lose constantly until cashing in will do no one any favors. Let’s hope that’s not the fate of winner of this match.

·For the women’s match, Becky would be my first choice. I feel a nice redemption story would be great for her. No heel turn is needed. This woman is too good of a babyface to be ignored.

·Go out of your way to see Cedric Alexander vs. Buddy Murphy. Best WWE match of the week. What Alexander lacks in the character department, he makes up with his storytelling in the ring. The guy is a blast to watch and Murphy was no slouch here either.

·I’m disappointed that EC3 hasn’t done much since stepping in to NXT. Patience is key with NXT as there are so many talented wrestlers on the roster and only a one-hour time frame. All I ask is that we get a barbershop quartet when he finally wins the big one. A simple request from a simple dork.

·Baszler continues to play the badass and bully perfectly. It’s amazing in such a short time how well rounded this woman has become as a wrestler. She’s no Asuka or Io Shirai (who I’m excited to see debut), but she’s been an enjoyable surprise in her NXT run.

·What a wasted opportunity with Pentagon Jr being Impact World champion. What was the point of giving him the World title if he isn’t going to do anything with it? Great match between him and Aries, but a disappointing result in the end.

·Demon Bunnies, coffins, and Bloody bride zombies rubbing against Su Yung. Yep, I still love this.

·I think Eddie Edwards got confused with reality and porn acting 101 class. Telling a woman, you’re going to kill a man isn’t a turn on.

·The NJPW super juniors tournament has been a blast so far. With Ishimori, Ospreay leading in the A Block and Dragon Lee, Kushida , Hiromu , and Scurll leading in the B Block, I look forward to seeing how this ends.

·I enjoyed Naito’s sit-down promo on why Jericho attacked him this past week. Naito is indeed a star and while I prefer him as a heel, I understand putting him in the babyface position. Also, no innocent turtles were insulted in this video, so I call that a win.

·Deviating from the wresting topic, I have to give a shout out to The Americans. This show proved that you don’t need over the top action scenes and violence in order for a show about Russian spies to work. Well-crafted characters, patient and well-balanced storytelling, and phenomenal acting all around. The Americans may be gone, but it will not be forgotten.
