Sami Zayn recently signed a new deal with WWE, and while it may not be what fans of his NXT run want to see from the man once (supposedly) known as El Generico, he is receiving a lot of TV time. After spending weeks feuding with Johnny Knoxville - potentially to set the stage for a match at WrestleMania - Zayn picked up a huge win on next Friday's pre-taped edition of SmackDown.
It's been shot in advance because the company is heading to Saudi Arabia that weekend for Elimination Chamber. It's likely this match took place on the blue brand instead of overseas because he's not allowed to wrestle there due to his Syrian heritage (and yet, WWE still goes there).
Anyway, here's your final spoiler warning!
On next week's SmackDown, Zayn will defeat Shinsuke Nakamura to become the new Intercontinental Champion. There's been some speculation that the King of Strong Style may have been injured during that match, but we can't confirm that as of yet (he may have just been selling extremely well).
WWE, knowing that the news will leak out from fans in attendance have issued the following:
"During a special SmackDown taping on Feb. 11, Sami Zayn defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to capture the Intercontinental Championship.
"Tune in to SmackDown next Friday at 8/7 C on FOX to see how The Master Strategist emerged victorious in the hard-fought battle for the gold."
