When The Authors of Pain arrived on RAW, they brought manager Paul Ellering with them. However, after winning their debut match on the flagship show, the duo made it clear they no longer want him by their side and he hasn't been seen since. It's since been revealed that Vince McMahon not being a fan of managers is what led to that but what's the storyline reason for him being fired by the team?

Well, what many fans missed is that we already got an explanation on NXT television! During a segment taped at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, Ellering told the team he has a plan for them to win back the NXT Tag Team titles before The Authors of Pain made it clear to him that their journey isn't about him and that their chapter with Ellering is now at an end. That's not a bad bit of continuity for fans!

After all, wrestling is a business where we rarely get a resolution to many storylines so it's nice to see how this was addressed. Ellering, meanwhile, will remain working behind the scenes in NXT.
