New WWE Women's Tag Team Championship #1 Contenders Crowned At NXT Stand & Deliver

Kicking off the action on the Countdown to WWE Stand & Deliver 2025, there was a Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Elimination Match with a title shot on the line.

This match featured Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade, The Meta-Girls (Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson), Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley (accompanied by Shotzi), and Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley and Jacy Jayne, accompanied by Jazmyn Nyx), with the winners set to receive an opportunity for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship on this upcoming Tuesday (April 22, 2025) on NXT.

How We Got Here:

Last week, several women who failed to win their qualifying matches for the NXT Women's North American Championship ladder match went to NXT General Manager Ava's office to complain about wanting some kind of a last chance second attempt at getting a spot. Ava told them that she wasn't doing that this year, but she had a different idea in mind for how to get all those women on the card.

This past Tuesday, Ava set up this tag team match as a Triple Threat, originally not featuring Roxanne Perez, who didn't have a tag team partner until Cora Jade decided to step in and reform their partnership, which had been on hold indefinitely after their friendship soured earlier this year.

Match Details:

The Meta-Girls were the first to be eliminated after Lash Legend took a pinfall from Roxanne Perez (following a Pop Rox).

Not too long after that, Perez decided (for some reason) that she didn't want to keep teaming with Cora Jade and walked off, leaving her partner vulnerable. Jade was then pinned by a combination of Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley.

Finally, Fatal Influence fell to Paxley and Dolin after Jacy Jayne was pinned by Dolin, which may also serve as a means to settle the score between them after their history together.

Personal Reactions & What Happens Next?:

As a result of all this, Dolin and Paxley will get a shot against either Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, the current champions, or their challengers on WrestleMania Sunday, Lyra Valkyria and Bayley. It was already safe to assume Morgan and Rodriguez would retain due to their status as a more legitimate tag team, Bayley and Lyra having some issues after Valkyria retained the Women's Intercontinental Championship over her, and the very idea that Lyra already has a belt. But now, with these two babyfaces set to challenge next for the women's tag titles, it's even more of a certainty Morgan and Rodriguez will retain at WrestleMania.

After that, it's a smart bet Dolin and Paxley will come up short on Tuesday night. So far, out of all the years the Women's Tag Team Championship has been around, there have never once been NXT Superstars who carry them. It's doubtful that's going to start now with these two.

Do you think Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley have it in them to win the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship titles on Tuesday, or will they just fall short? Drop your predictions and other reactions in the comments below!
