Nia Jax was one of the surprise entrants in this year's Women's Royal Rumble match, returning to the WWE fifteen months after being released from the company.
There was speculation that Jax might have been rehired as a full-time performer, but based on her comments during a recent virtual autograph signing hosted by East Coast Autograph Auctions, her Rumble appearance was most likely a one-time deal.
“I’m glad it was a surprise for everybody," she said. "I was actually really happy that people remembered me. I was nervous right before I walked out like, what if nobody remembers me? And I walked out in the Rumble and it’s dead air."
Nia did get a pretty good reaction, but her entrance music actually hit before the timer counted down to zero!
"No comment," she said when asked about the botch. "I can’t say. I know, but I can’t say. But let’s just say somebody was super excited for me to be back and prematurely hit my music. But they were really happy I was back. Let’s say that. But that’s all I’m gonna say (she smiled). They (some fans) were hoping it was more of a permanent thing… I almost cried myself. I was nervous, a nervous wreck.”
Jax had gained a bit of a reputation for being a "dangerous worker" during her time in WWE, but she was certainly over as a monster heel at one point.
