Last night's episode of RAW featured a main event with Rhea Ripley putting her Women's World Championship on the line in a match against Raquel Rodriguez. Dominick Mysterio was banned from ringside, meaning it was finally a fair contest as the friends turned enemies went head-to-head.
It was a competitive back-and-forth bout that ended with the shocking WWE return of Nia Jax. She hit Rodriguez with a Samoan Drop on the outside of the ring and, as the referee didn't notice, Ripley was able to capitalise by hitting the Riptide for the win.
It briefly appeared as if Jax might be about to ally herself with The Judgement Day (she was even wearing purple) but the former champion wasted no time in laying waste to Ripley.
The show - the last before WWE is acquired by Endeavor - went off the air with her laid out and Jax standing tall.
All signs now point to Jax coming after the Women's World Championship, an interesting decision when fans could be heard booing the returning WWE Superstar despite the fact Ripley is meant to be a heel.
She was released by WWE in 2021 before later making a surprise appearance during this year's Women's Royal Rumble match. Now, Fightful Select is reporting that Jax was signed by the company last month after WWE's hiring freeze finally ended.
During her original WWE run, Jax developed a reputation for injuring other Superstars and grew increasingly unpopular, as a result. WWE clearly sees value in her, though, and this should be a hard-hitting rivalry. If nothing else, Jax can probably earn fan support by throwing around Mysterio!
