Yesterday, Wrestling Observer Live's Dave Meltzer revealed that there are plans for NXT Superstar Matt Riddle to be moved to the main roster. At the time he made those claims, there was no word on which show he would be part of, but PW Insider is now claiming to have some intel which clears things up.
They say that Riddle is heading to the SmackDown brand, and note that WWE had been planning to move Riddle up from NXT before WrestleMania last month. However, when COVID-19 started causing chaos, that was put on hold (WWE Creative obviously had much different matters to focus on during that period).
Now, things have changed, and WWE is once again moving forward with plans for Riddle. He's expected to finish up his NXT run soon, and there's already speculation that his Cage match against Timohy Thatcher (which will be refereed by WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle) could be his last on Wednesday nights.
Riddle is no longer NXT Tag Team Champion, so it would be easy for him to move to the blue brand, and there are a lot of different people he could face on that show, including the recently traded AJ Styles.
