NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day was filled with several big surprises!
The first, was the debut of former Impact World Champion Eli Drake. The former NWA star is now going by the name LA Knight and cut a promo during the pre-show announcing his arrival to NXT.
The other big surprise was the betrayal of The Undisputed Era and Kyle O’Reilly. Finn Balor successfully retained his belt against Pete Dunne in the main event; however, Dunne, Oney Lorcan, and Danny Burch attacked the NXT champ after the match.
Kyle O’Reilly came out for the save, but he wasn’t enough to stop the trio. Adam Cole and Roderick Strong joined the fight and Lorcan, Dunne, and Burch backed down immediately. However, Cole super kicked Balor. O’Reilly gave him shit for the attack and Cole super kicked him too. Strong looked conflicted over the assault. We’ll surely find out the next chapter this Wednesday.
In terms of the Dusty Rhodes Classic tournament matches, Raquel Gonzalez & Dakota Kai and MSK won for their respective divisions. MSK will receive an NXT Tag Team Title opportunity in the future.
