One Of WWE's Biggest Superstars Will Be A Free Agent Following SUMMERSLAM Later This Month

WWE definitely hasn't shied away from releasing many of its top stars in 2021, but a big name from NXT looks set to be a free agent following SummerSlam...is it possible he'll join his girlfriend in AEW?

It appears one of NXT's top Superstars could be set to leave the company later this month, and that could bode well for AEW! According to Wrestling Inc., Adam Cole's contract was set to expire in 2024, but is now set to end shortly after this month's SummerSlam

The site notes that Cole's contract actually ended after the Great American Bash show, but he agreed to sign an extension that would keep him in NXT until at least the end of this month.

It sounds like something could be worked out between WWE and Cole, but it's worth noting that there have been rumours in the past about him considering making the leap to AEW. The former NXT Champion has visited the company on several occasions, primarily because his long-time girlfriend, Britt Baker, works for the company.

Needless to say, he'd likely be very interested in joining AEW in order to be able to spend more time with Baker, and it feels like he's done everything he can in NXT (and we find it hard to imagine he's keen on being buried by Vince McMahon on the main roster every Monday or Friday).

Cole debuted in 2017 for NXT and has remained on the brand for the entirety of his time with WWE.
