Up until now, any Superstar who's won the Money in the Bank briefcase has used it for an opportunity at one of WWE's top championships, but the rules clearly state that they are allowed to cash it in for a shot at any title of their choosing.
Could Otis become the first to use his MITB contract for a chance to win the SmackDown Tag-Team Championships with Heavy Machinery partner Tucker?
Not challenging for the WWE or Universal Titles may seem like an odd move, but Otis did suggest that this is exactly what he planned to do if he won during a pre-MITB interview. This would also make sense from a character standpoint, as Otis and the current WWE and Universal Champions are all babyfaces.
There's some speculation that Otis might decided to go back on what he said and challenge for one of the big titles, leading to a falling out with Tucker. It's also possible that he'll be goaded into putting the briefcase on the line in a match.
At the end of the day, we really can't see Otis taking on either Drew McIntyre or Braun Strowman for one of their respective titles and winning. It's just not going to happen, and we all know it, so WWE really needs to do something to subvert expectations here.
