With UFC 225 in Chicago on the horizon and WrestleMania just days away, rumours are once again swirling about CM Punk making a return to WWE. There's obviously nothing which points to that being the case and while wrestling fans would love to see the Best in the World back in the squared circle, Phil Brooks appears to have his heart set on making a go of it in the world of mixed martial arts.
However, could time heal wounds the same way it has with the likes of Goldberg, The Ultimate Warrior, and Jeff Jarrett? Unfortunately, Paul Heyman doesn't foresee a WWE return in Punk's future!
"I don’t think CM Punk cares one way or another what’s going on in the world of sports entertainment. He is someone that has achieved his goals by dedicating every aspect of his life to pursuing his passions. His passions right now are quite obviously in mixed martial arts and I don’t think he has a contingency plan in case of failure. I don’t think failure is an option for Phil Brooks. I think he is intent on making a go of it in the mixed martial arts world and if it doesn’t work out for him in UFC, I’m sure he would be looking a Bellator before he would be looking at a return to the wrestling ring."
That's probably not what people are going to want to hear but it makes sense and you can't blame Punk for trying his best to make a name for himself in the UFC despite his first fight being something of a disaster. Still, stranger things have happened so we could see him make his WWE return...one day.
