At this year's WrestleMania, Edge and Daniel Bryan were both pinned by Roman Reigns at the same time, coming out on a losing effort to win the Universal Championship.
While we always knew that the Rated R Superstar was always going to have a limited schedule in WWE, it's still surprising that the WWE Hall of Famer has been M.I.A. since April. It's previously been reported that Edge will return on the July 16 episode of SmackDown, the first weekly show to welcome fans back since before the pandemic (John Cena is also expected to be in attendance).
Now, Jon Alba is reporting that Edge will continue to be part of the blue brand and is scheduled to compete at SummerSlam on Saturday, August 21.
There's no word on who he will face, but he is expected to be the babyface. Edge turned heel shortly before WrestleMania, but with fans now back in attendance for shows, it's obvious that they'll want to cheer him. With that in mind, it feels like WWE is making the right decision to bring him back as a good guy.
While we'd love to see Edge vs. Cena at SummerSlam, rumour has it that the leader of the Cenation will face Roman Reigns at the PPV. Seth Rollins would be an interesting opponent for Edge, though, especially as there's history between the two men (when Edge wasn't cleared to wrestle, Rollins threatened to Curb Stomp him).
