During last week's episode of Talking Smack, WWE Hall of Famer Edge made some pointed remarks about the 24/7 Championship while reminding fans of his many in-ring achievements.
Discussing his Universal Championship match with Roman Reigns at Money in the Bank this weekend, Edge noted that he's held a whopping 31 titles in WWE.
"I know what he [Reigns] brings to the table, and I know he calls himself the ‘Head of the Table,’ and I can appreciate everything that he’s trying to say because he believes everything he says," he said at the time. "But I’ve been there, done that. I’ve won 31 championships; that’s more than anyone else in this company, and I’m sorry I don’t count the 24/7 Championships."
R-Truth, a 52-time 24/7 Champion, has taken exception to Edge's comments (in a typically light-hearted way), by taking to Twitter to share the following:
We're sure this was all in good fun, but no one can really blame Edge for not taking the 24/7 Championship seriously. It's become a prop for relatively entertaining skits, but had Truth not been as involved in it as this...well, we'd probably have all forgotten that it exists by now!
Needless to say, we'll be sure to let you know if Edge decides to respond!
