Randy Orton is the new WWE Champion after defeating Drew McIntyre inside Hell in a Cell in the main event of last night's PPV event.
The Scottish Psychopath asserted his dominance early on, beating the hell out of his opponent and gaining several near falls. However, The Viper lived up to his nickname by luring Drew to the top of the cell where he was waiting to ambush him with a steel pipe. After striking him in the leg, Randy was able to send McIntyre crashing through a table as both men were scaling down the other side of the structure.
Back in the ring, a weakened McIntyre managed to hit a Claymore, but Randy rolled out of the ring. Drew used the last of his strength to roll him back in and set up another kick, but Orton avoided it and hit an RKO to pick up the victory and become a 14-time WWE Champion.
McIntyre was expected to retain here, as reports indicated that we'd see him face Roman Reigns at Survivor Series in a WWE Champion vs. Universal Champion match. He may regain the title before then, of course, but that doesn't seem likely as having Orton defend against the returning Edge at WrestleMania makes a lot more sense.
What did you guys make of this match and the HIAC PPV overall?
